Hi, how are you? How has your week been? Make yourself a cuppa and pull up a chair. Let’s chat.
This is my new series of chatty posts to let you know what’s going on in my life. Because I enjoy writing them, I enjoy reading them back and hopefully you may like it too.
It’s been a week of working on my goals. Number one is to be able to touch my toes, and I have been doing my stretching every day, thanks to the Bend app. I’ve been done the 5 minute Hamstring stretches every day and am going to start on the 10 minute stretch from Monday, but I think I need to work it more into a designated spot inn my mornings.
Goal two is to declutter and organise our home by Christmas. I don’t want to spend hours every day cleaning or decluttering, so I’ve spent this week getting the main living spaces – the kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedrooms – straightened up and cleaned, so that I can see exactly what we’ve got and what needs doing. I’ve been making lists as I go of the jobs to be done, whether decluttering, deep cleaning, regular cleaning or improvements we’d like to make. I have managed to do something every day, even if it has been just a 10 minute drawer declutter. I now need to get my lists sorted into specific jobs and have a bit of a plan for what to do next.
Goal three is to grow this blog into more of an online grimoire and resource. I am currently working on a ‘How to have a Magical Month’ guide, based on the practices I did in May to bring more magic and joy into my days. It’s very close to finished and I am very excited to share it with you. I am thinking of doing another Magical Month in September, so I definitely want the guide ready for then, and I want to have some extra resources on the blog ready for that. So while I haven’t made much progress here yet, there are plans!

What I am Reading…
I have a habit of having several books on the go, so I can choose depending on my mood or activity. I love to read a physical book, but also have a Kindle so that I can read with the light off, plus I subscribe to Kindle Unlimited and can download books for ‘free’ which means I will try different styles or can download a few books on a specific topic when I want to do research. I also use my audiobook hours with Spotify while cleaning to listen to books – usually non-fiction.
My current physical book is “A Court of Wings & Ruin” by Sarah J. Maas, which I am still very much enjoying. On my Kindle I am reading “The Deal” by Elle Kennedy, which is the book that the Netflix series ‘Off Campus’ is based on, a very easy, before bed read. I have also just started “The Book of Magical Living: 8 Secrets to Inner Power” by Poppy Jamie, which is about “how to see beyond the surface, deepen your sense of purpose, and transform your relationships, health and happiness.” Finally my audiobook, usually while cleaning and decluttering, is “We Should All be Millionaires” by Rachel Rodgers.
Have you read any of these? Let me know any recomendations.

What I am Watching….
I am still in my Supernatural re-watch, now on season 10 and eagerly awaiting the arrival of Rowena. I love that Witch. To aid with my decluttering, I have had episodes of ‘Sort Your Life Out’ on in the background – I would love to pack all my stuff up and lay it all out to see what we’ve got. With Matthew, I’m watching ‘Only Murders in the Building’, again, a great show. Martin Short and Steve Martin are fab. And I watched the first episode of ‘Ride or Die’ last night, which I thought was fantastic and I am looking forward to seeing how it goes.

What I am Crafting & Creating…
I actually don’t think I’ve done any crafting this week, but I am looking forward to having a little session this evening. On Friday evenings I tend to have a few hours to myself. Matthew plays darts and Evie has drama, so I am going to make this my crafting time. I have some Lego flowers I want to build, and I have had an idea for crocheting a cover for one of our living room chairs. I am going to look at it tonight, so watch this space…
What we’ve been Cooking…

Matthew has been doing really well with planning meals out this week. He has started back on WeightWatchers and so I leave the evening meal plans to him. He obviously plans his breakfasts and lunches, and I tend to wing it on a day to day basis. Would you be interested in our weekly plans? Or at least how it is done? Let me know.
One of my favourite breakfasts is bagel with cream cheese, topped with sliced tomaotes, chopped basil and a drizzle of extra virgin oil oil and balsamic vinegar. Its light and fresh and delicious. We made a turkey lasagne this week too, I had some questions about why we used turkey rather than beef, and it’s because Evie isn’t really a fan of beef at the moment, plus turkey is cheaper. It still makes for a lovely dinner. We’ve also been trying to add more fish into our meals, so tandoori salmon with brown rice & steamed veg was on the plan this week, with a lime pickle yoghurt.
What I’ve been planning…
My plans for next week include more decluttering and organising. I just need to decide on a tactic, do I go room by room? Or activity based on time? I have had a blog by Dana K. White recommended to me on threads, it’s called A Slob Comes Clean so I am reading through this for inspiration at the moment. I have also seen people using index card boxes to organise their cleaning tasks, and I really want to try and get something in place to stay on top of cleaning, especially the deep cleaning or less frequent tasks that need to be done. But I don’t want to spend a load of money on a system I may forget about using in a week or two.
I’m determined to get my Magical Month guide finished this week, so I can get it ready to sell and start working on the supporting content. I’ll also continue my chatty posts, apparently a Friday is a good day to write them. So, see you next week for another chat? Hope you have a great weekend.
